My world has always revolved around the ocean, as a young waterman, I learned from my father. A surfer, Diver, and Conservationist, how to respect all resources. His message always was . . .

“Take only what you need, and leave it in better condition than you found it”.

This message stuck with me and guided me through my entire life and ultimately led me here. 

I’ve been fortunate enough to make a good living, and being a keen waterman, I began building my own boat. As the project progressed, I realized that this was my chance to give back by helping to protect and preserve the ocean I love. 

My the mission became clear.

Build a platform capable of various research tasks like Tag & Release, Sampling, Diving, and Observation. Then use that platform to spread awareness, and promote clean oceans, clean eating and clean living through education and community. 

Now, after many years of planning and construction, these ideas are becoming a reality!

Through The R/V PILAR organization we are committed to giving back to our oceans. Be it in the form of research, Tag & Release, Sampling, Diving, and Observation and more ! Our vessel is one of a kind and is capable of carrying out a wide range of missions for extended periods out at sea.

Beyond Research, we are always looking to help broaden the communities understanding and access to information through events, social outreach and ocean clean-ups and are always looking for like minded people and organizations to partner with to further these goals and keep our oceans healthy!
