Our mission extends beyond research and study alone. We are passionate about educating and inspiring the next generation as well as the general public to develop a profound understanding of our oceans and to foster a deep respect for these invaluable ecosystems. To achieve this, we are committed to freely sharing all the information we gather aboard the R/V PILAR and beyond, presenting it in entertaining and educational formats. By providing accessible content, we aim to empower individuals of all ages to become stewards of the oceans and make informed choices that contribute to their conservation.

In particular, we place great emphasis on teaching children about sustainable living practices and ways to reduce their plastic consumption. Through engaging and interactive materials, we aim to instill in young minds the importance of protecting the environment and the significant role they can play in preserving our oceans for future generations. We encourage them to ask questions about the origin and methods of catching the fish they consume, fostering an understanding of the difference between industrial fishing and sustainable local fishing.
